Loving on the Piano Guys

One of the things I admire greatly in people is musical ability. I’ve always wished I could play an instrument or had the guts to actually sing around anyone other than my children.

I don’t and I generally won’t, so I have to get my fix by listening to others and appreciating their skills. That might be Mr W whaling on the drums in the basement or his best friend Ben writing a song for us and performing it at our wedding. (You want to talk about something that will make you tear up on your wedding day, try hearing a dear friend sing a song he wrote for you for the first time in front of 100 people.)

Of course all of that completely digresses from my original point.

If you haven’t heard The Piano Guys, you are doing yourself a very serious disservice. I LOVE these guys. They’ve got mad skill and consistently crank out some of the best quality videos and music I’ve seen online in ages. Eventually, some studio exec is going to stop suffering from cranial rectal inversion and snatch these guys up. Or we’ll hear about them getting a headlining show in Vegas or something.

Until then, you can only catch them on YouTube. Mr W and I are supporting members and listen to the music regularly. Of course then I go out in public and hear the original version (like the Coldplay song featured above) and find myself wishing I was listening to The Piano Guys remix instead.

I’ll leave you with one last video if you aren’t convinced yet:

Oh, and don’t forget to swing by their web site and support them. Just $20 lets you download their greatest hits in mp3 format. Absolutely worth it.

They ARE amazing, aren’t they? I love the cello, it’s one of the most soothing and emotional instruments I know of. I could close my eyes and listen to their songs and be transported. The Cello Song and Nearer My God to Thee are two of my favorites, but the entire catalog is just wonderful.
