Weekly Menu – December 3rd, 2012

This is a short week for me…I’m headed to Las Vegas early Wednesday morning to speak at a conference and won’t be home until late Thursday evening. Now the truth is, Mr W is amazingly capable of feeding the kids just fine while I’m gone…but I’d rather he not have to worry about it, so I’ve planned the schedule to leave him plenty of leftovers while I’m gone.

Weekly Menu – November 26th, 2012

After taking a week off for the insanity of Thanksgiving, I’m back to relying on my weekly menu planner to get dinner on the table each night. Of course we’re also post Thanksgiving and Pre-Christmas, so that means lots of freezer powered and budget friendly meals here on the farm.

I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but around these parts fall is over and we’ve moved firmly into the land of the bare trees. It’s funny, as driving just thirty minutes north still leads to a little bit of color, but here on the farm,  fall is no more…and that’s got me craving comfort food. Welcome back to the menu my warm and hearty friend…

You know those times when the entire family is down with the cold or flu and you subside on what can easily e thrown together at dinner time from the contents of your fridge? Yeah, that was us last week. Thankfully I keep enough things on hand to make things like salads, pasta and fritatta’s easy fixings. This week, we’re all on the mend and menu planning is back in play.

After last week’s dive back into the wonderful world of menu planning, we’re in full kitchen swing here. There’s just something about the leaves turning color and the air turning crisper that inspires me to cook up meals that warm the heart as well as the body. This week I’m adding some comfort foods to the mix and working my way back into the test kitchen for some baking.

Hey everyone, I’m back! I know, I know, you’ve all just simply been starving for the past few months since I’ve been so irresponsible with my posting. Well, take three months of summer with kids, travel, a book to write and all the other normal stuff thrown in and blogging gets tossed out the window. But I’m back and have several blog posts in the hopper, so it seemed appropriate to relaunch with another great weekly menu post.

Remember last week when I said I couldn’t be held responsible if I didn’t manage to make the dinners I’d picked out each night for the week? Yeah, well…sure enough…it all fell apart. I managed to make it through till Thursday though, so that’s not bad. What happened? Well, it’s a complicated story.

Menu Planner – Week of June 11th

menu planner week of June 11th

Summer is in full swing. The kids are done with school, the morning and afternoon bus no longer dictate our schedule and the non-consistent “do we have kids this week or don’t we” craziness is well upon us. In many ways, that throws menu planning into disarray. After all, when it’s just the two of us, it’s so much easier to forget about dinner and just snack our way through the evening.

Sorry for the week off last week. We had quite the busy week around here, planning and hosting an outdoor movie night and potluck for 100 friends and family. (More posts on that coming later this week.) That meant I had no time for posting and for a few days, no time for cooking! This week, we’re getting back into the swing of things.

Menu Planner – Week of May 28th

This week starts an attempt at following the mini-challenges over at 100 Days of Real Foods. I’m teaming up with a few of my local lady friends to get a bit more accountable with what we eat and how active we are. As you know, we don’t eat much processed food in this house, but there’s still plenty we can do to get even better about how we eat.  This week, the challenge is incorporating more fruits and vegetables into daily meals.
